Jay Gruden, head coach for the Redskins, is apparently not fully backing up Robert Griffin III, the team’s current starting QB, as the comments that he made on Monday apparently suggest that the player could be benched pretty soon – maybe even this week, something that many fans and live betting services believe could be necessary.
On Monday, the coach met with the media, and reporters asked him about the chances of him making any changes in the QB position.
“There’s a chance at a lot of positions, yes,” said the coach, and many fans believe that a change might be very well be necessary.
“It’s Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock, and right now we have every intent for Robert, but we’ll look at the tape and make our evaluations here shortly.”
Later during the day the coach was on Comcast SportsNet making his weekly radio appearance, and he was asked by the interviewer about the amount of time that he would want to let the player “get comfortable.” Many fans were wondering what the coach had to say about this.
“Well, we want to beat Indianapolis,” answered Gruden. “We want to win every game. And I have to put the people in there who [are] gonna help us win those games. And we’re gonna seriously go down and look at this film, look at last week’s film, look at Minnesota’s film, look at Houston’s film, and try to put a plan together that will help him succeed.
“Or we’ll have to find out if somebody else is there that can help us beat Indianapolis instead.”
Could that someone else be backup quarterback Colt McCoy? The interviewer, Chick Hernandez, pressed Gruden on the issue.
“At this time, right now, Robert’s my guy, right now,” said Gruden.
“We’re still gonna watch this film and evaluate what we’re doing as an offense,” the coach added.
“And then we’ll have to figure out what players at what positions are going to play and start to give us the best chance against Indianapolis.”
The Redskins’ fans know that the team is currently in a very tough spot, and would like to see what will be done in the QB position. Perhaps RG3 continues as a starter, perhaps he doesn’t, but live betting services believe that whatever move made by the team will hopefully see them bounce back from what is proving to be a very disappointing season.
